In this role, you are responsible and accountable for daily trading activity while developing and supporting relationships with Simpson Seeds Inc. (SSI) customers. You will implement strategies and initiatives to promote the growth of SSI brand in international and domestic markets. This position also includes a commission structure in addition to an annual salary.
Education
· A degree/diploma in Marketing or Business, preferred
Experience
· Sales (or related) experience at an intermediate level is beneficial
Licenses, Documents and Certifications
· Valid driver’s licence
· A valid passport or the ability to obtain a valid passport
Knowledge & Skills
· Knowledge of marketing commodities in an international environment, an asset
· Specific knowledge of international trade practice as related to Canadian special crops, an asset
· Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office – specifically Word and Excel, required
· Financial acumen

Physical Demands

General Duties & Responsibilities
· Generate profitable sales while supporting existing accounts
· Develop new customers for SSI in existing markets and expand business with current SSI customers
· Understand the process of negotiating contracts, for both purchase and sales. Be able to understand the domestic (DAF/CY) and international (CIF/CFR) pricing process from grower levels to offered level
· Have a complete knowledge of SSI product specifications/quality, as well as the Canadian Grain Commission Export specifications
· Identify, develop, and manage strong relationships with customers
· Understand and remain up-to-date with commodity markets and weather conditions impacting those markets. Specifically, Canadian Special Crops and the competing origins of the same crops around the world.
· Be able to understand and analyze the various markets that produce similar products to Canada for factors that affect price such as:
o Import/export policy changes and political developments
o currency exchange
o weather conditions, or
o significant supply and demand changes
· Provide the management team with daily and weekly market update reports for assigned regions and/or commodities
· Maintain and develop relationships with freight forwarders and transloaders used by SSI
· Negotiates freight as required
· Support SSI Logistics and Documentation departments to facilitate the execution/shipment of sales contracts. This would include, but not limited to:
o Ensuring timely instruction of information required to enter and schedule contracts (within 24 hours)
o Communicating effectively with other team members and providing accurate and the latest information to team members in all areas of the trade execution
o Participating in production meetings to assist with any items/issues related to contracts traded
· Enters and reviews Sales and Purchase Contracts in ERP system
· Maintain trading position book
· Maintain risk limits on sales positions put in place by Senior Management
· Monitor growers purchases and sales to minimize late contract deliveries of purchase contracts
· Maintains positive, productive working relationships with SSI’s Grain Buyers
· Manages and reviews commodity positions
· Work with the Accounting Department to follow accounts receivable and ensure that customers are paying for shipments in a timely and agreed to fashion.
· Be available to travel internationally and domestically, as required
· All other duties as assigned by management
Compensation
$80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
