Working with the Operations Manager (or designate), you will be responsible for all aspects of seed/grain cleaning and processing, as well as grading product. This includes making sure that the appropriate products are being cleaned and transported to the correct bin, meeting, or exceeding quality standards, maximizing plant production and striving for shift targets, following standard operating procedures and performing minor machine/plant maintenance. 

• Grade 12 education or equivalent

• 1-3 years of continuous work experience in Grain Cleaning or similar operations

• Forklift & Skid Steer certification preferred 

• CPR and First Aid preferred

• Valid driver’s license 

• Good mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues

• Working knowledge of Microsoft office

• Time Management

• Ability to work with little to no supervision and effectively within a team

• Keen eye for detail and quality

• Organized

• Self-Starter

• Exposed to dust and noisy conditions

• Prolonged periods of standing (6 to 8 hours per day)

• Ability to lift or maneuver 100 lbs. as required

• Working with the Operations Manager, be aware of shift production targets and quality goals and help create strategies to meet these goals

• Be aware of which product is being cleaned (i.e. from cleaning note) and to which bin it should be cleaned

• Responsible to run cleaning line(s) and complete all necessary transfers

• Operate Sorter

• To assist with ensuring the quality that you are cleaning is to desired specification or to the designated sample 

• Perform plant picks/finished lots as per the standard operating procedures

• To help make sure that all processing bins are cleaned thoroughly before the final product is allocated 

• Making sure that the plant area and pads are clean at the end of your shift

• To make all necessary adjustments to equipment 

• Help perform regularly scheduled maintenance duties (i.e. greasing, cleaning etc.) and ensure the plant is working as optimally as possible. 

• Help maintain an updated screen inventory. This will include all damaged screens and frames  

• To dump backup finished lots when required

• Maintain compliance with food safety policies and practices

• Back up in the areas of Grade and Dockage and grain receiving. 

• Other duties as assigned by management

Simpson Seeds functions during the day and evening. Employees may be required to work different shifts and schedules to accommodate the changing demands of business, including weekends and holidays. The number of hours worked each week may be adjusted to meet the changing demands of business.
